Happy meals
Shirl got a shock the other day when she opened her sandwich - it started singing We Wish You a Merry Christmas! It turned out that Tesco has recently launched a musical sandwich that plays a medley of Christmas songs when the packaging is opened. It uses the same technology as talking greetings cards and if popular, Tesco said it would launch a whole range of musical sandwiches. It gives a new meaning to singing for your supper I suppose.
I’m watching you
Mobile phone firm 3 has unveiled a wireless, portable CCTV camera that can be used anywhere in the home. When the persons phone number is dialled by a mobile phone, the camera and microphone are activated and live video and audio are broadcast to the caller. 3 said the device would mainly be used by people checking on their homes and pets when they're away, however, I'm sure people will find other uses, such as spying on cheating spouses. I've already put in an order for two so I can keep tabs on what Shirl and Gordon get up to when I'm out of the office.
Dangerous games
Dave Jnr and Her Indoors were arguing all last week about computer games after she discovered a web site to teach her about suitable games for kids to play. Obviously within five minutes all his favourite games were banned, such as Kill-Death-Rob and Speeding Shotgun Freaks. I said more useful web sites for her to surf would be ones about cooking, housework and fitness. Luckily for me the doctor said the cast would only be on for about six weeks.
Searching for cash
I've always modelled myself on Bill Gates, the only difference being that I lack both his multi-billion dollar idea and his multi-billion dollars. But the latter is about to change after Gordon (of all people) told me that Gates has agreed to share advertising revenue from his search engine with end-users. So I've got Gordon and Shirl, as well as Dave Jnr at home, searching the web for anything they can think of so I can clock up my search time. Obviously I’m not sharing it with any of them though.
